United Arab Emirates First Half 2019: Mitsubishi Pajero new favourite in market up 8.9%

The Mitsubishi Pajero is the new favourite in the UAE.

The UAE new light vehicle market is up a sturdy 8.9% year-on-year over the First Half of 2019 to 116.818 units. Yet Toyota (+5.5%) and most strikingly Nissan (-24.2%) can’t keep up and see their shares drop to 27.8% and 18% respectively. Meanwhile Mitsubishi (+18.9%) more than doubles the market growth to 13.1% and we welcome back BMW at #4 with 6.3% share. Hyundai (+37.9%), Jeep (+34.8%) and Renault (+11.6%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 15.

The Mitsubishi Pajero (+43.3%) confirms it is the new favourite of Emiratis, bypassing the Toyota Land Cruiser (+19%) and Nissan Patrol (-48.5%) to keep the podium 100% large luxury SUVs. The Nissan Sunny (+16.5%), Toyota Hilux (+5.2%) and Prado (-6.7%) camp on their 2018 ranking while the BMW X5 is back at #7, distancing the Toyota Camry (+29%), Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (+31.6%) and Nissan Altima (+11.6%). The Honda HR-V (#86) tops new launches above the Hyundai Kona (#105) and Toyota Ace (#122).
