Switzerland June 2019: Tesla Model 3 climbs back on podium in market down -9.8%
The Tesla Model 3 now ranks #4 year-to-date in Switzerland.
The Swiss new car market is hit hard in June at -9.8% year-on-year to 28.391 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally tilting back into negative at -0.5% to 157.136 units. Brand leader Volkswagen sinks -23.2% to 10.9% share ahead of Mercedes (-5.1%) and BMW (-7.9%) also down bit gaining share year-on-year, as do Skoda (+3.1%) and Audi (-5.5%) just below. Peugeot (+15.7%), Volvo (+12.8%) and Toyota (+5.3%) are the only other gainers in the Top 15, with Lexus (+246.4%), Tesla (+132.9%), Hyundai (+23.2%), Jeep (+21.3%), Ferrari (+17.5%), Mitsubishi (+12.9%) and Nissan (+1.2%) also in shape further down.
Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+4.6%) maintain its stranglehold on the Swiss charts above the VW Tiguan (-4.6%) while the Tesla Model 3 shoots back up a spectacular 68 spots on May to land on the third step of the podium, the 2nd time it does so after leading the ranking outright last March. As a result the Model 3 advances to #4 year-to-date just below the VW Golf (-41.7%) itself down to #4 in June. The Mercedes A-Class (+111.2%), Skoda Fabia (+19.7%) and Mercedes C-Class (+18.6%) stand out in the Top 10, while beyond, the Hyundai Tucson (+103.9%), Audi Q3 (+100%), Toyota RAV4 (+80%), Skoda Kodiaq (+39.7%), BMW X5 (+34.5%) and Opel Corsa (+20.3%) make themselves noticed.
