New Caledonia (France) June 2019: Toyota Yaris shoots up to 1st place in market imploding -29.1%

The Toyota Yaris is the best-selling vehicle in New Caledonia in June.

New light vehicle sales in New Caledonia, a French Overseas archipelago located north-east of Australia, continue to freefall in June at -29.1% year-on-year to just 599 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally down -11.9% to 3.535. Toyota (-39.7%) leaps back up to the brands pole position it holds year-to-date despite a very steep year-on-year drop, eclipsing Dacia (-20.8%) by just one sale. Peugeot (-20%) rounds up the podium ahead of Hyundai (+11.9%) scoring the only double-digit gain in the Top 10. Mitsubishi (+6.9%) and Kia (+3.8%) also improve in the Top 10. Model-wise, the Toyota Yaris (+66.7%) shoots up from outside the May Top 20 directly into 1st place with 8.3% share, distancing the Dacia Duster (-28.1%) still ultra-dominant year-to-date at 7.9% share (+53.7%) vs. just 4.5% for the #2, the Toyota Hilux (-22%). The Sandero (-13.2%) makes it two Dacias on the podium, with the Peugeot 208 (+22.2%) and Hyundai Creta (+61.5%) rounding up the Top 5.
