Ukraine May 2019: Toyota RAV4 eclipses Renault Duster, Kia Sportage to #1

The Toyota RAV4 is the best-selling vehicle in Ukraine in May.

The Ukrainian new car market manages a third consecutive month in positive after 6 in negative: May sales are up 1.6% to 6.947, meaning the year-to-date tally is now down -2.4% to 32.193. Toyota (+45.6%) overtakes Renault (+28.8%) to take the lead of the brands ranking with a staggering 17.8% share vs. 13.6% YTD. Hyundai (-0.6%) edges down but is up 3 spots on April to #3, distancing Nissan (+25.8%) and Kia (+17.7%) both in excellent shape also, as is Mitsubishi (+57.2%). All other Top 10 brands drop in the double-digits.

The models podium remains 100% SUV but in a different order than last month: the Toyota RAV4 (+155.1%) is lifted up by the new generation to #1, distancing the Renault Duster (+51.2%) and Kia Sportage (+91.1%), with the Duster overtaking the Sportage for the #1 spot YTD. The Mitsubishi Outlander (+140.9%), Toyota Prado (+41.5%), Nissan Qashqai (+26.2%) and Hyundai Tucson (-7.1%) make it 7 SUVs in the Top 10 while the Renault Logan (+35.7%) and Sandero (+56.7%) are the best-selling cars.
