Kazakhstan May 2019: Lada (+23.9%) teases Toyota for #1 in market up 17.1%

Lada 4×4 sales are up 38.9% year-on-year in Kazakhstan in May.

The Kazakh new car market manages a 16th double-digit year-on-year gain in the past 17 months in May at +17.1% to 6.165 registrations, meaning the year-to-date volume is now up 19% to 25.699. Toyota (+7.8%) remains in the brands lead for a mere 28 sales above Lada (+23.9%) with Hyundai (+37.4%) and Kia (+61.6%) in tow also outpacing the market. Volkswagen (+78.3%) and UAZ (+72.2%) post the largest gains in the Top 10 while below, Skoda (+127.1%) stands out. Model-wise, the Toyota Camry (-8.1%) resists a strong attack by the Hyundai Tucson (+139%) up 3 spots on April to #2, distancing the Lada Granta (+12.4%), GAZ Gazelle (+15.9%) and Hyundai Accent (-4%). The Lada Largus (+61.2%), 4×4 (+38.9%), Vesta (+38.7%) and Toyota Prado (+22.1%) also impress in the Top 10 while the BMW X7 lands at #61.
