New light vehicle sales in New Caledonia, a French Overseas archipelago located north-east of Australia, gain 7.1% year-on-year in April to 637 units, meaning the YTD tally is now down -4.9% to 2.421. Toyota (+33.3%) remains the most popular carmaker on the territory, but is just 3 units above Dacia (+51%) for the month. Peugeot (-2.8%) drops one spot on March to #4, distancing Renault (+103.4%) in outstanding shape, Ford (-5.5%), Citroen (-46.6%) and Hyundai (-30.2%) all struggling. Mitsubishi (+86.7%), Nissan (+81.8%), Fiat (+71.4%), Kia (+50%), Volkswagen (+46.2%) and Mazda (+27.3%) also shine further down. Model-wise, the Dacia Duster (+243.8%) posts another stunning month to cement its leadership at 8.6% share and 7.9 YTD (+62.7%). The Ford Ranger (-2.8%) and Renault Clio (+180%) follow on the podium while below the Mazda BT-50 (+225%), Toyota RAV4 (+162.5%), Hyundai Creta (+110%), Toyota Yaris (+61.5%) and Peugeot 208 (+35.3%) impress.
