Vietnam March 2019: Mitsubishi Xpander shoots up to #2

The Mitsubishi Xpander is the 2nd best-selling vehicle in Vietnam in March.

The Vietnamese new vehicle market is decidedly on fire in this start of 2019 with March deliveries up a mammoth 52.9% year-on-year to 32.308, lifting the year-to-date tally up 31% to 78.035. Toyota (+101.5%) more than doubles its sales year-on-year to easily remain in pole position at 28.1% share vs. 16.2% for Thaco-Kia (-14.6%) in difficulty again. Honda (+107%) knocks Mazda (+24.2%) out of the podium, but it’s Mitsubishi (+573.2%) that by far posts the largest gain in market this month ahead of Nissan (+149.2%) with Hyundai (+87.3%) also in excellent shape. Model-wise, below the Toyota Vios (+41.1%) back in its traditional top spot, the hero of the month is the Mitsubishi Xpander up a whopping 48 spots on February to #2, its new all-time high ranking in Vietnam smashing its previous best of #7 hit last January. The Honda CR-V (+236.3%) falls off its pedestal (it ranked #1 in both January and February) but still evolves way higher than at the same time a year ago. Among other recent launches, the Toyota Wigo is up 13 spots on last month to #6, the Toyota Rush up 21 to #23 and the Honda HR-V up 22 to #27.

Previous month: Vietnam February 2019: Honda CR-V repeats at #2 in market up 6%

One year ago: Vietnam March 2018: Toyota Vios and Innova top market down 21%
