Argentina March 2019: Renault repeats at #1 in market imploding -53.7%
Renault is the most popular carmaker in Argentina for the 4th time in the past 8 months.
Things are taking a sinister turn in Argentina when it comes to new car sales with March marking a 10th consecutive month of double-digit drops at an abysmal -53.7% to just 38.864 units, pulling the year-to-date volume down 49.1% to 138.534. Brand-wise, Renault (-43.4%) posts a second straight win and 4th in the past 8 months, toppling traditional leader Volkswagen (-48.2%) with these two carmakers the only ones losing less than half their volume year-on-year in a devastated Top 7.
Indeed Peugeot (-64.7%), Chevrolet (-63.8%), Fiat (-63.2%), Ford (-56.6%) and Toyota (-51.5%) all getting annihilated. Honda (-19.1%) and Nissan (-29.3%) sign the best holds in the Top 10 just as the only manufacturers managing a gain all selling less than 10 units this month: Foton (+40%), Jaguar (+33.3%), Porsche (+33.3%) and Isuzu (+12.5%)…
The Toyota Hilux (-45%) is once again the best-selling model in Argentina above the Ford Ka (-49.1%), Chevrolet Onix (-57.4%), Renault Kwid (-47%) and Sandero (-51.3%). The Fiat Cronos (+25.9%), Toyota Yaris (+535.2%), Citroen C4 Cactus (+99.5%), VW Virtus (+918.8%), Nissan Note (+149.1%) and Jeep Compass (+12.3%) are the only 6 nameplates posting a year-on-year gain in the Top 50, 4 of them being recent launches.
