The Uruguayan new car market slows down its freefall in February at a still painful -9% to 3.130 units, meaning the year-to-date tally is now down 18.9% to 6.105. Renault (-31.1%) remains master in command at 16.1% share despite falling a lot faster than the market, whereas Volkswagen (+30.9%) and even more strikingly Suzuki (+94.6%), Peugeot (+67.4%), Toyota (+62.3%) and Citroen (+59.7%) ignore the surrounding gloom to post spectacular year-on-year gains, ending the month at #2, #4, #7, #9 and #10. Just outside the Top 10, Dongfeng (+470%), Mitsubishi (+337.5%) and Kia (+259.1%) post spectacular gain, and Dongfeng goes against the overall Chinese direction which is at -17.1% to 8.3% share this month.
