UK nations February 2019: Suzuki Swift scores podium, Vauxhall Grandland X Top 5 in Wales

The Suzuki Swift scores its first ever Welsh podium this month.

Thanks to our partnership with SMMT we can share with you the Top 10 best-sellers for all UK nations in February. Keep in mind this is a zoom in by nation, all sales figures are included in the February 2019 UK update. Once again Scotland stands out with a 13.5% year-on-year surge to 6.183 units leading to a YTD volume up 10.9% to 18.131. Wales (+6.4%) also over-performs at 2.396 sales with YTD now up 2% to 7.734, England edges up 0.6% to 69.184 but remains down -1.3% YTD at 206.922 while Northern Ireland is the only UK nation in decline in February at -3.5% to 3.887 units and down -5.3% so far in 2019 to 9.547.

Like last month the Ford Fiesta tops 3 out of 4 UK nations this month (England, Scotland and Wales) but doesn’t rank on the podium in Northern Ireland (#4). The VW Golf is #1 again in Northern Ireland and ranks #3 in England, the Ford Focus is #2 in England and Northern Ireland, the Vauxhall Corsa is #2 in Scotland and the Ford Kuga #2 in Wales, the Nissan Qashqai is #3 in Northern Ireland and the VW Polo #3 in Scotland. Finally the Suzuki Swift posts its very first Welsh podium finish at #3, its previous best there being #5 in August 2018.

The Vauxhall Grandland X breaks into the Welsh Top 10 for the first time directly at #5, the VW T-Roc is T-Roc #5 in Scotland for its 5th consecutive Top 10 finish there, also ranking #5 YTD which makes it 3 VW in Top 6 alongside the Polo (#4) and Golf (#6). The BMW X3 is up to #6 in Scotland, 2nd ever Top 10 finish there after August 2017 (#7), the Ford Ecosport is #4 in Scotland and scores its very first Top 10 in England (#9) as it is also the case in the UK overall. The BMW 5 Series also posts its first Top 10 in England at #10, becoming the 5th BMW to have ever cracked the monthly English Top 10 alongside the 1 Series (last time in September 2018), the 2 Series (first and last time in February 2018), the 3 Series (last time in October 2018) and the 4 Series (first and last time in October 2017). TheSuzuki Vitara manages its first Top 10 finish in Scotland (#10) and the Toyota C-HR is #10 YTD in Northern Ireland.
