Taiwan February 2019: Toyota Corolla and Yaris top market down 27.2%
Toyota Yaris sales are up 52.7% year-on-year.
New car sales in Taiwan are handicapped by the Lunar New Year which fell earlier this month with February sales down an abysmal -27.2% to just 19.640 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down 14.8% to 63.783. Toyota (-26.5%) falls slightly slower tham the market and retain its stranglehold on the ranking at 22.6% share, distancing Mitsubishi (-43.9%) hit particularly hard, Nissan (-26.3%) and a very solid Mercedes (-15.5%). In the remainder of the Top 10, Volkswagen (-15.7%), BMW (-23.1%) and Ford (-23.8%) manage to drop less tham the market whereas Mazda (-49.1%) and Honda (-46.9%) crumble down. Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (-37.1%) is back to pole position but takes a hard hit, while the Toyota Yaris (+52.7%) surges again but falls to #2 and the CMC Veryca (+16.5%) rounds up the podium with a solid score. The Nissan Kicks is up two spots on January to #5, the Ford Focus (+33.9%) up 22 to #10 and the Toyota C-HR (+102.2%) up 6 to #17.
