The Ivory Coast (Cote d’Ivoire) new vehicle market posts a sturdy gain for the second straight year with 2018 sales up 16.1% to 11.376. Brand leader Toyota (+15.5%) almost matches the market growth to maintain its share at a dominant 16.4%. The best performer in market this year is without a doubt Suzuki (+81.8%), benefitting from a much wider passenger car lineup to leap up 4 spots and land directly in 2nd place with 10.4% share, knocking Renault (-2.5%) and Mitsubishi (+15.4%) down. Nissan (+29.5%) for its part overtakes Hyundai (-10.4%) to stay at #5. Mazda (+45.5%) and Fuso (+18.8%) also shine in the Top 10 while Great Wall (+3.3%) remains the best-selling Chinese manufacturer at #9 overall. Chinese brands are extremely dynamic in Ivory Coast this year with deliveries up 28.2% to 12.6% share vs. just 9.8% a year ago, helped by the arrival of JMC (#16) and JAC (#27) and strong results by Foton (+48.3%).

Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (+12.2%) holds onto the top spot ahead of the Mitsubishi L200 (+6%), Renault Duster (-1.2%), Nissan Hardbody (+22.9%) and Mazda BT-50 (+23.7%) in a Top 5 unchanged on 2017. The Nissan Kicks (+320.8%) breaks into the Top 10 for its first full year in market, with the Toyota RAV4 (+46.8%), Suzuki Vitara (+32.5%) and Ford Ranger (+28.4%) also posting market-beating performances in the remainder of the Top 10. In a market obliterated by pickups and SUVs, the best-selling passenger car ranks as low as #15 (#12 in 2017): it’s the ultra low-cost Suzuki Alto 800 (+83.9%) imported from India. The Renault Logan (+10.8%), Toyota Yaris (-22.7%) and Suzuki Swift (+38.4%) also find their way into the overall Top 25, with Suzuki confirming its newfound PC domination by also placing the DZire (+5000%), Ciaz (-15.2%) and Baleno (+711.1%) inside the Top 8 cars, making it 5 in 8. The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (#38) is the most popular 2018 launch above the Toyota Rush (#42) and Mazda CX-9 (#44). Finally, note the paltry results of the Peugeot Pickup (aka Dongfeng Rich) with a lonely 9 sales for its first appearance in the Ivory Coast charts.
