Indonesia January 2019: Honda Brio and Mitsubishi Xpander regain control in market down 15.3%

The Honda Brio is the best-selling vehicle in Indonesia for the 2nd time in the past 3 months.

9/06/20 update: Now with the Top 110 All-models.

The market is hit hard this month with a steep -15.3% year-on-year decline to just 81.677 wholesales. Toyota (-1.2%) manages to post the slimmest drop in the Top 5, resulting in a strong 30.7% market share, with Mitsubishi (-7.7%) in 2nd place at 20.1% and Daihatsu (-21.4%) closing the podium at 18.1%. Both Suzuki (-28.1%) and Honda (-25.8%) freefall to round up the Top 5 whereas Isuzu soars 50.1% year-on-year to just under 3% share and Nissan (-67.5%) implodes outside the Top 10. Model-wise, just as the Toyota Avanza seemed to have regained control of the charts by outselling the Mitsubishi Xpander over the last 3 months of 2018, it drops to #3 in January, outsold by both the new generation Honda Brio (+48.4%) snapping its 2nd pole position in the past 3 months and the smash-hit from Mitsubishi (-19.4%), taking advantage of the changeover to the facelifted Avanza (-26.2%). This as the new Nissan Grand Livina – a rebadged Mitsubishi Xpander – has just launched in market.
