New light vehicle sales get a whip up in Egypt in 2018: up a fantastic 44% year-on-year to 190.314 units, the largest annual volume since 2015. Chevrolet (+34.8%), Hyundai (+40.6%) and Nissan (+24.2%) remain the best-selling brands, making the podium unchanged on 2017, but all lose market share. In contrast, Renault (+94.8%) almost doubles its deliveries and steps up one spot to #4, dislodging Toyota (+24.3%) while Kia (+63.6%) remains in 6th place. Chinese carmaker BYD makes a thunderous return in Egypt directly in 7th place with 3.6% share, instantly leading the Chinese force just as Lada (#16) and Zotye (#18) also come back. Overall, the Chinese gain 63% to 10.6% share of the Egyptian market for 2018. Peugeot (+330.9%), Fiat (+166.5%), BAIC (+159.8%), Subaru (+153.6%), Honda (+142.6%), Dongfeng (+78.3%) and Ford (+68%) also impress.

Model-wise, the Chevrolet TFR pickup (+31.4%) scores a fifth consecutive win and remains above 10% share ahead of the Nissan Sunny (+26.1%) like in 2017. Below, the Hyundai Elantra (+49.2%) overtakes the Accent/Verna (+15.7%) while the Tucson (+97.2%) leaps into 5th place and a batch of almost 7.000 2016 BYD F3 has been unloaded onto the Egyptian market, earning it a majestic 6th place overall. Excellent performance of the Renault Kadjar (+132.9%) breaking into the annual Top 10, something it has never done at home in France. The Kia Sportage (+200.4%) follows closely just as the Fiat Tipo (+193.4%), Renault Sandero (+119.4%), Chevrolet Lanos (+113.6%), Renault Logan (+79.4%) and Duster (+76.9%) all shine. The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (#26), Lada Granta (#27) and Zotye T600 (#29) are the other very successful 2018 launches.
