Denmark February 2019: Market up 7.9%, Citroen C3 new YTD leader
The Citroen C3 is the best-selling vehicle in Denmark so far in 2019.
New car registrations in Denmark leap up 7.9% year-on-year in February to 18.647 units, a new record for the month, leading to a year-to-date tally up 7.4% to a new record 39.960 sales after two months. Volkswagen (+10.8%) once again outpaces the market on the way to a dominant 14.2% share, distancing Peugeot (-24.4%) in difficulty while the next four best-sellers all stun with spectacular gains: Citroen (+19.3%), Skoda (+59.9%), Toyota (+35.2%) and Renault (+19.4%). Seat (+63.6%), Volvo (+29.9%), Hyundai (+25.6%), Kia (+25.5%) and Mercedes (+23.4%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 15 with Tesla shooting up 1640% thanks to the arrival of the Model 3.
Model-wise, the Nissan Qashqai (-0.6%) is up 5 spots on January to become the best-seller this month but it’s the Citroen C3 (+62.3%), #2 like last month, that snaps the YTD #1 spot with over 1.500 sales. The Renault Clio (+45.1%), Toyota Yaris (+42.9%), Citroen C1 (+56.6%) and Skoda Octavia (+38.6%) follow and all score fantastic upticks, as do the VW Up (+80.7%) and Skoda Fabia (+34.4%) in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas the leader of the past 3 years and of January the Peugeot 208 (-56.7%) crumbles down to #8. The Tesla Model 3 (#76) lands directly at the best-selling recent launch (<12 months) ahead of the Citroen C4 Spacetourer (#79), Seat Tarraco (#103) and Peugeot Rifter (#105).
