Iraq Full Year 2018: Kia crosses 50% share milestone in market up 58.6%

The Iraqi new car market continues to recover, 2018 marking a second consecutive year of double-digit gains at a spectacular +58.6% to 53.646 deliveries. Kia (+68.9%) manages to outpace an already galloping market yo cross the symbolic 50% market share milestone at 51.9%, while sister brand Hyundai (+184.6%) almost triples its sales year-on-year to step up to 2nd place overall with 15.3% share, edging past Toyota (+30.4%) for just 27 sales… Jeep is up 20-fold to jump from #11 last year to a splendid #4 in 2018, knocking Nissan (-46.5%) down to #5. Mitsubishi (up 13-fold), Ram (up 12-fold), Dodge (up 6-fold), Renault (+240%) and Land Rover (+107.9%) also take off in the remainder of the Top 12, while Cadillac (#14), Ford (#15) and Chrysler (#16) make their return into the Iraqi market.
In the models ranking, Kia manages to monopolise the podium with the Frontier (+29.8%) at 26.3% share, the Sorento (+367.8%) at 11.6% and the Sportage (+149.5%) at 8.1%. The Mitsubishi L200 (up 20-fold), Jeep Grand Cherokee (up 20-fold), Hyundai Elantra (+489.1%) and Tucson (+135.5%) also lodge fantastic gains in the remainder of the Top 10. The Renault Symbol lands at #27, the Cadillac Escalade at #36 and the Renault Koleos at #44.
