Iraq Full Year 2017: Kia Frontier up to 32.1% share in recovering market

One in three new vehicles sold in Iraq in 2017 is a Kia Frontier.

After dropping 44% in 2015 and 48% in 2016, new car sales in Iraq have turned the corner in 2017 with a sizeable 17.5% jump to 33.825 units. Kia is more dominant than ever thanks to deliveries surging 46% to 48.8% share, whereas Toyota sees its share drop three percentage points to 18.6% due to sales up just 1%. Nissan gains 20% to overtake Hyundai (-37%) while Chevrolet (+36%) rounds up the Top 5 like in 2016. Suzuki (+414%), GMC (+191%) and BMW (+42%) also shine near the top while Renault appears at #10.

The Sorento (#5) helps Kia reach almost 50% market share in Iraq in 2017. 

Model-wise, the Kia Frontier is the best-seller for at least the 4th year in a row, significantly improving its footprint thanks to sales shooting up 94% to 32.1% share, one in three vehicles sold in Iraq. The Toyota Hilux (+37%) is back above the Kia Sportage (-20%) to hold the #2 spot while the Hyundai Tucson soars 58% and three spots to #4 and the Kia Sorento is up 14% to #5. The Nissan Navara (#7), Chevrolet Cobalt (#10), Nissan Patrol (#13) and Suzuki Swift DZire (#16) also shine while the Renault Duster (#21) and Nissan Kicks (#25) make a solid appearance in the Iraqi charts.
