Vietnam November 2018: Toyota now leads year-to-date in market up 23.4%
The Toyota Vios remains the best-selling nameplate in Vietnam.
The Vietnamese new vehicle market shoots up 23.4% year-on-year in November to 30.540 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 3.1% to 252.419 units. Toyota surges 38% to 24.3% share, once again outpacing main competitor Thaco-Kia down 3% to 15.6%, and edging past it year-to-date at 22.5% vs. 21.5%. Honda (+316%), Mitsubishi (+192%), Chevrolet (+72%), Mazda (+55%) and Ford (+44%) all post spectacular gains in the remainder of the Top 10 while Peugeot (+1524%) and Nissan (+460%) do so further down. Model-wise, the Toyota Vios (+1%) stays on top at 8.4% share vs. 9.3% YTD, distancing the Ford Ranger (+27%), Mazda3 (+44%), Toyota Fortuner (+225%), Mazda CX-5 (+81%) and Honda City (+98%). The Chevrolet Spark (+496%), Ford Everest/Explorer (+447%), Mitsubishi Outlander (+401%) and Attrage (+201%) also impress further down, while the Toyota Wigo is down 9 spots on October to #11 and the Chevrolet Trailblazer up 9 to #18.
