Colombia September 2018: Renault snaps lead off Chevrolet, market up 10.9%

The new vehicle market in Colombia enjoys a 5th year-on-year gain in the past 6 months in September at +10.9% to 21.430 units, lifting the year-to-date volume up 2.2% to 175.723. Renault (+9%) manages to snap the brands lead off Chevrolet (-4%) for the 4th time in the past 12 months at 19.2% share vs. 17.9% but remains frankly below YTD at 19.2% also vs. 20.3% for Chevrolet. Mazda (+26%) posts the largest gain in the Top 5 to hold onto the third position ahead of Nissan (-6%) and Kia (+6%) while Volkswagen (+60%), Toyota (+56%), Mercedes (+42%) and Suzuki (+33%) all post spectacular gains in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, Fiat (+612%), Changan (+335%), Peugeot (+156%), Jeep (+128%), Citroen (+82%) and Volvo (+69%) are among the most impressive.
The Renault Sandero (-5%) is once again the runaway leader in the models ranking, followed this time by the Logan (+34%) in a Renault 1-2 enabling the Logan to climb up to #3 YTD, fending off the Kia Picanto (+7%). The Mazda2 surges 178% on September 2017 to land on the third step of the podium, while the best-selling Chevrolet, the Spark (-36%), is down to an unusually low 5th place with the Beat at #7 and the Sail at #8 while the Onix (+47%) is very strong at #9. Notice also the Toyota Fortuner (+104%), Suzuki Swift (+99%), Toyota Prado (+71%), Hilux (+54%), Renault Captur (+46%), VW Gol (+46%), VW Voyage (+31%) and Nissan Kicks (+29%) all posting spectacular gains.
