Portugal July 2018: Renault places Clio and Megane on top

The Portuguese new car market is up 13.7% to 19.986 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 6.8% to 154.546 units. Renault (+21%) beats the market but hits a share (13%) lower than its YTD level (14.6%). Peugeot (+11%) remains in 2nd place ahead of Fiat (+74%) also cements the 3rd spot it holds YTD. Seat (+50%), Citroen (+29%) and Nissan (+20%) also outpace the overall growth in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Opel (-7%), BMW (-6%) and Mercedes (-5%) drop. Further down, Jeep (+3650%!), Porsche (+139%), Hyundai (+56%), Alfa Romeo (+47%), DS (+46%), Lexus (+43%), Toyota (+40%), Mitsubishi (+39%), Ford (+33%) and Kia (+32%) also impress. Renault scores a 1-2 for the third straight month with the Clio (+21%) and Megane (+25%) in the lead followed by the Fiat Tipo (+96%) managing its first podium ranking in Portugal. The Fiat 500 (+121%), Mercedes A-Class (+42%) and Nissan Qashqai (+18%) also gallop faster than the market in the Top 10, with the Opel Crossland X (+110%), Peugeot 3008 (+97%) and Fiat Punto (+85%) also posting spectacular gains in the Top 20. The Citroen C3 Aircross (#21) and Seat Arona (#24) top recent launches (<12 months).
