New Caledonia (France) May 2018: Toyota doubles sales YoY to #1

New light vehicle sales in New Caledonia, a French Overseas archipelago located north-east of Australia, are up again in May at +1.3% to 622 units, but the YTD volume remains frankly in negative at -8.3% to 3.168. Toyota almost doubles its sales year-on-year (+95%) to comfortably snap the brands pole position at 13.5% share, climbing up to #2 YTD as a result. Peugeot (+32%) remains #2 ahead of Renault (+23%) up five spots on April and Ford (+7%) stuck at #4. Leader in April, Citroen tumbles down 41% this month to #5 overall, followed by Kia (+18%), Nissan (+44%) and Suzuki (+183%) all positing spectacular gains. Model-wise, the Hilux justifies Toyota’s May leadership with sales shooting up 160% to 8.4% share and earning a 2nd spot YTD as a result, below the Ford Ranger up 121% to #2 in May. The Nissan Navara (+47%) make the podium 100% pickup, with the Isuzu D-Max (-33%) making it 4 in the Top 5. The Suzuki Swift is up 20-fold to #4, with the Renault Clio (+55%), Toyota Yaris (+200%) and Dacia Logan (+27%) also very solid in the Top 10.
