Kazakhstan May 2018: Toyota and Camry reclaim control

New vehicle sales in Kazakhstan posts a 5th double-digit year-on-year gains in as many months this year with May volumes up a whopping 37.7% to 5.263 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up 38.5% to 21.592. For the first time since last September, Toyota is the best-selling carmaker in the country with deliveries up 49% to 22.9% share, a title it held over the Full Year 2017. Lada (+62%) is down to #2 despite a hefty surge, not as impressive as Hyundai’s however, shooting up 253% on its May 2017 score for a splendid 16.5% share. GAZ (+32%) passes Kia (-1%) for the 4th spot, the Korean manufacturer being the only one in decline in the Top 10. JAC (+165%) and Kamaz (+65%) also outpace the market in the Top 10 whereas Nissan (+33%), Lexus (+31%) and Renault (+18%) just miss out.
Hyundai surges 253% year-on-year with the Accent, Creta, Elantra and Tucson all in the Top 10.
Model-wise, the Toyota Camry (+122%) steps up two spots on April to land in pole position, also climbing back to the YTD top spot, passing the Lada Granta (+180%) and 4×4 (-20%). In third place for May, the Hyundai Accent is up 14-fold on May 2017 to #3 ahead of the GAZ Gazelle (+37%). The Lada Vesta (+298%), Hyundai Tucson (+244%), Creta (+229%) and Elantra (+185%) also post spectacular gains in the Top 10 while the Toyota Prado (+48%) manages to beat the market. The Isuzu D-Max leads all recent launches at #33 ahead of the Lifan X70 (#42) and Myway (#46).
