Ukraine January 2018: VW Golf leads market at highest in 4 years
The VW Golf is the best-selling nameplate in Ukraine in January.

The Ukrainian new car market starts 2018 on the right foot with sales up 37.4% to 6.624, the highest January score since 2014 (11.875). After dropping to #2 in December, Toyota reclaims the brands top spot it held over the Full Year 2017 thanks to deliveries surging 91% to 14.2% share. Renault (+21%), Volkswagen (+30%), Nissan (+56%) and Skoda (+55%) follow. Ravon (+212%), Audi (+175%), Suzuki (+147%) and Mazda (+84%) post the biggest year-on-year improvements in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, notice Great Wall (+2200%!), JAC (+1600%), Mini (+1050%), Peugeot (+130%), Volvo (+122%), Mitsubishi (+115%), Chery (+112%) and Porsche (+94%) all posting spectacular gains.

Model-wise, the VW Golf takes the lead thanks to deliveries up 14-fold on January 2017 to 4.8% vs. 1.7% over the Full Year 2017, distancing the Toyota RAV4 (+222%), Camry (+287%), Renault Duster (+105%), Skoda Rapid (+132%) and Nissan Qashqai (+121%) meaning the entire Top 6 best-sellers frankly outpace the market. 2017 leader, the Kia Sportage drops 14% year-on-year to #7, while the Mazda CX-5 (+370%), Mitsubishi Outlander (+275%) and Suzuki Vitara (+151%) also impress further down. The Ravon R4 leads all recent launches (<12 months) at #16 above the Kia Stonic (#47), Skoda Kodiaq (#48) and Ravon Gentra (#91).
