Turkey January 2018: Renault Megane up 66% to towering 8.1% share
The Renault Megane hits a record market share in Turkey for this generation.

New light vehicle sales in Turkey edge down 0.7% year-on-year in January to 35.076 registrations. Renault (+6%) and Fiat (+8%) remain the most popular carmakers in the country, easily beating the market while on the contrary Volkswagen (-4%) and Ford (-26%), although holding onto their FY2017 ranking, post negative results. Toyota is up 8% to remain in 5th place vs. #7 in 2017, Mercedes almost doubles its sales year-on-year (+98%) to shoot up 4 spots to #7 and Skoda is up 69% and 5 ranks to #8. Land Rover (+147%), Jaguar (+100%), Ssangyong (+63%), Audi (+62%), Volvo (+61%), Subaru (+28%), Seat (+24%) and Peugeot (+23%) also lodge spectacular gains. At the other end of the scale, Alfa Romeo (-71%), Citroen (-48%), Nissan (-35%), Porsche (-35%), Dacia (-30%) and Isuzu (-30%) implode.
The Mercedes X-Class posts a second consecutive month inside the Turkish Top 100.
Over in the models ranking, the Renault Megane is the best-seller for the second time in the past three months thanks to the sedan variant representing 97.5% of its total sales this month, up a stunning 66% year-on-year to 8.1% share, a record for this generation. Leader in 2016 and 2017, the Fiat Egea is relegated at a distant 2nd place at 4.6% of the market despite itself being up 48% year-on-year. The Ford Courier (-26%) takes the third spot above the Fiat Fiorino (+23%) and Honda Civic (+9%) up 13 spots on December to #5. The VW Transporter is up 50% to #10, the Skoda Octavia up 77% to #12, the Toyota C-HR up 129% to #15, the Mercedes C-Class up 143% to #19, the Skoda Superb up 127% to #25, the Peugeot 3008 up 510% to #31 and the Ford Kuga up 586% to #37. The Skoda Kodiaq is the best-selling recent launch (<12 months) at #68, followed by the Mercedes X-Class (#90) and Opel Grandland X (#94).
