Norway October 2017: VW Golf up 87%, Volvo XC60 up 133%

The VW e-Golf represents 73% of total Golf sales in Norway this month.

New car sales in Norway are up 4.5% year-on-year to 12.472 registrations, pushing the year-to-date total up 0.8% to 128.830 units. Volkswagen remains the most popular carmaker in the country, beating the market with sales up 12% to 17.9% share ahead of Toyota also in great shape at +22% to 12%. BMW recedes 1% but stays in third position at 8% share above Volvo (+36%) and Skoda (+14%) both posting excellent results. Mitsubishi (+15%) is the only other Top 10 carmaker to sign a double-digit gain, while further down Opel (+23%), Hyundai (+28%), Land Rover (+81%), Porsche (+114%), Mini (+125%), Tesla (+137%), Jeep (+300%), Alfa Romeo (+333%) and Smart (+1550) shine.

Volvo XC60 sales are up 133% year-on-year in October.

Model-wise, the VW Golf shoots up a stunning 87% year-on-year to 12.9% share, with 73% of its sales coming from the e-Golf. The Toyota RAV4 is up 14% to #2 (99.8% hybrid!), the Mitsubishi Outlander up 16% to #3 (97.4% PHEV) whereas the BMW i3 is down 17% to #4. The Toyota Yaris (99% hybrid), Auris (99% hybrid also) and VW Passat (67% PHEV) round up the Top 7. The Volvo XC60 is up 133% to #8, with 93% of its sales coming from the PHEV variant. The Toyota C-HR is back inside the Top 10 at #9, the BMW 2 Series is up 53% to #11, the Skoda Kodiaq up 4 spots on September to #14, the Hyundai Ioniq up 96% to #15, the Volvo XC90 up 181% to #16 and the Peugeot 3008 up 234% to #17. Heroes in September, the Tesla Model S is down 19 spots to $21 but up 315% year-on-year and the Model X is down 26 ranks to #29 but up 55% on October 2016. Finally, notice the Opel Crossland X up 96 spots on last month to #60.
