New car sales in New Caledonia, an overseas French territory located north east of Australia, are up a slim 1.5% year-on-year in October to 677 registrations, meaning the year-to-date volume remains frankly in positive at +10.9% to 7.186 units. Brand-wise, Toyota leaps up two spots on last month to snap the pole position thanks to deliveries up 26% to 12.9% share. Citroen does even better, surging up 89% to 10.6% in 2nd place vs. 8% and #5 so far in 2017. Dacia (-3%) and Ford (-34%) lose ground but Renault (+17%) and Peugeot (+4%), #1 in September, improve. Notice the two main French carmakers ranking at a low #5 and #6 in New Caledonia this month. Being located on the other side of the world certainly has a negative effect on brand loyalty. Nissan (+12%), Mitsubishi (+525%!), Volkswagen (+29%), Chevrolet (+120%) and Dodge (+33%) also shine. In the models ranking, the Dacia Duster reclaims the top spot it holds YTD with sales edging up 5% despite the imminent arrival of the new generation (pictured above), distancing the Toyota Hilux (-3%) and Citroen C3, up 27-fold on the previous model a year ago. The Nissan Navara (+73%), Toyota Yaris (+300%), Suzuki Swift (+260%), Renault Trafic (+260%) and Citroen C1 (+143%) also make themselves noticed.
