Finland September 2017: Nissan Qashqai best-seller in market down 6%

The Nissan Qashqai is the best-selling nameplate in Finland in September.

The Finnish new car market recedes by 6% year-on-year in September to 9.011 units, pulling the year-to-date total down 0.8% to 90.881 registrations. Once again Toyota shines with a 17% year-on-year to 12.9% share, distancing Volkswagen (11%) and Skoda (9.9%) both up 1%. Nissan drops 22% but gains 6 spots on August to land at an excellent 4th place, Mercedes is up 8% to #5 and Volvo up 28% to #6. Dacia (+27%), Fiat (+32%), Tesla (+45%), BMW (+46%), Seat (+64%) and Mini (+100%) make themselves noticed while Ford (-24%), Kia (-24%), Opel (-30%), Peugeot (-37%), Citroen (-44%), Subaru (-44%) and Honda (-51%) struggle.

The Toyota C-HR misses out on a Finnish Top 10 ranking by just 6 sales this month. 

Model-wise, the Nissan Qashqai snaps the top spot as it did a year ago, and this despite a 14% drop. It is followed by the Skoda Octavia (-18%) and VW Golf (+1%) earning a third spot year-to-date. The Top 10 features a healthy amount of nameplates improving frankly year-on-year, including the Toyota Yaris (+30%), VW Passat (+35%), Mercedes C-Class (+38%) up 9 spots on August, the Skoda Fabia (+45%) up 13 ranks on last month and the Ford Focus (+65%). Below, the Toyota C-HR is up 5 spots to #11 and now ranks #13 YTD, the Toyota RAV4 is up 94% to #12, the Volvo V90 up 11 ranks to #14, the Renault Clio up 96% and the BMW 3 Series up 193%.
