New car sales in the Czech Republic are back up 1.4% year-on-year in September to 20.219 units, the highest-ever score for the month, bringing the year-to-date tally up 6.6% to 205.511 units, the first time in Czech history that the 200.000 unit-barrier is passed after just nine months. Brand leader Skoda outpaces its home market once again with a solid 8% gain to 33.7% share, well above the 31% it commands year-to-date. Volkswagen continues to struggle at -10% but is back above Hyundai (+4%) for 2nd place overall. Toyota (+9%), Mazda (+17%), BMW (+18%) and Seat (+26%) are the most dynamic carmakers in the Top 20, while beyond, Porsche (+12%) and Mini (+52%) impress.

The Skoda Karoq is up to #12 at home in September.

Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia gains a robust 11% to 11.1% share vs. 10% year-to-date, distancing the Skoda Fabia (-3%) and Rapid (+14%). The VW Golf soars 29% year-on-year and 3 spots on August to #4 and #1 foreigner, knocking the Hyundai i30 (+23%) down to #5. The Skoda Superb is down 27% to #6 and the Kodiaq down one spot to #7, just as the all-new Karoq gains 11 ranks on August to land at a very satisfying 12th place with 1.4% share. The most impressive nameplate in the Top 20 is without a doubt the Ford Kuga, up 16-fold (!) on September 2016 and 16 spots on last month thanks to its facelift to break into the Czech Top 10 at #9.
