Belarus Q3 2017: VW Polo holds lead, Hyundai up 151%

The VW Polo remains the best-selling nameplate in Belarus.

New car sales are up a whopping 32% year-on-year over the third quarter of 2017 to 8.835 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up 20% to 22.426 registrations. The Top 5 brands are in the same order as YTD, with Renault by far in the lead but trailing market growth at +24%, ahead of Volkswagen (+36%), Lada (+94%), Skoda (+14%) and Nissan (+43%). Hyundai surges 151% to #6, GAZ is up 59% but down to #8, while Mitsubishi (+50%), Mazda (+54%), Ford (+55%), BMW (+148%) and Chery (+165%) outpace the market inside the Top 20. Geely falls back to #20 but at #14 YTD remains the most popular Chinese brand in the country. Dongfeng, Changan and Haval all have sold less than 10 units this year so far.

In the models ranking, the VW Polo stays in the lead, improving its market share to an imposing 12.2%, while the Renault Sandero is up to 10.9% over the period (91% Stepway) and a round 10% YTD. Once again, Renault places no less than four nameplates in the Top 5 but in a different order this time: the Logan jumps up to #3 with 8.3% share vs. 6.6% YTD, ahead of the Kaptur already plateauing at 4.9% vs. 5.9% so far this year and the Duster freefalling to 4.8% vs. 8% YTD. The GAZ Next overtakes its sibling the Gazelle to #10, the Nissan Almera is up to #11 vs. #18 YTD, the Lada Granta is up to #14 and the Skoda Octavia up to #19.
