Uruguay July 2017: Volkswagen leads, FAW shine in market up 14%
The new R7 SUV helps FAW up 96% in Uruguay in July.

The Uruguayan new car market is up 14% year-on-year in July to 3.925 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally up a whopping 27% to 30.148 units. Volkswagen takes the lead of the brands ranking for the second time in the past three month despite gaining less ground than the market at +5% to 14.7% share and remains #2 YTD for now. Suzuki soars 54% to #2 and 12% and Chevrolet is up 50% but only ranks third at 10.2% share. Fiat drops 12% to a round 10%. Citroen (+40%), Nissan (+62%) and Peugeot (+108%) make themselves noticed in the Top 10 while beyond, FAW (+96%) leads the Chinese offensive at #12 above BYD (-30%), Lifan (-42%), Chery and Geely (-57%) while Dongfeng (+61%) and Great Wall (+89%) take off. All-in-all, Chinese marques represent 10.8% of the Uruguayan market in July vs. 10.5% year-to-date. Honda (+177%), Mercedes (+61%) and BMW (+46%) also impress.
