Today we can share with you exclusive data for Indonesia over the First Half of 2017. The Indonesian market edges up 0.3% year-on-year over the period to 533.903 units. Toyota remains ultra-dominant with a 36.6% market share while sister brand Daihatsu reclaims the #2 spot off Honda at 17.7% share vs. 17.5%. Suzuki (9.7%) overtakes Mitsubishi (6.3%) for the 4th place overall – note Mitsubishi Fuso is counted separately. Notice Datsun at #7, Isuzu at #8 while Chevrolet is the #1 non-Japanese brand and the only one in the To 10 at #10 with a meagre 0.3% market share. Mercedes, Mazda, BMW and Lexus follow.

In the models ranking, the Toyota Avanza (11.7% share) has shaken off the Toyota Calya (7.6%) which threatened its supremacy for a few months last year. Sales of Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap and Minibus are combined, pushing the nameplate to third place overall above the Toyota Kijang Innova while the Honda Brio (including Satya) is by far the best-selling passenger car in the country. The Honda Mobilio leaps back up to #6 ahead of the Honda HR-V with the Daihatsu Sigra rounding up the Top 10.

The twins Daihatsu Ayla and Toyota Agya both suffer significant loss and step out of the Indonesian Top 10 (they ranked #9 and #5 respectively in FY2016). Further down, notice the Mitsubishi L-300 Pikap at #15, the Mitsubishi T-120SS Pikap at#23 (the latter two being Indonesian-specific), the Suzuki Ignis at #24 and the Chevrolet Trax at #46. The Lexus RX (#54) is the #1 premium nameplate above the Mercedes C-Class (#56), Mercedes GL (#58) and BMW X1 (#62).
