Switzerland June 2017: BMW soars 25% to 2nd place

The Swiss new car market is up 2.1% year-on-year in June to 31.923 registrations, lifting the half-year tally up 0.6% to 158.918 units. Volkswagen goes against the grain with a 3% drop to 11.8% share in June and -9% to 11.1% year-to-date, whereas BMW soars 25% to 9.3% and 2nd place this month, almost two percentage points above Mercedes at 7.4% (+5%) which however remains #2 year-to-date. Skoda (+2%) and Audi (-6%) follow, with Renault (+11%), Seat (+20%), Ford and Toyota (+24%) both posting double-digit gains inside the Top 10. Beyond, Fiat (+27%), Dacia (+34%), Porsche (+23%), Alfa Romeo (+154%) and Tesla (+38%) are among the rare double-digit gainers in the rest of the sales charts.
Ford Kuga sales are up 113% year-on-year in June in Switzerland.
The VW Golf (-6%) is the best-selling nameplate in the country for the 2nd month running but the Skoda Octavia (-19%) holds onto the YTD top spot with a 534-unit advantage over the Golf. Below, the VW Tiguan (+37%), BMW 2 Series (+21%) and Ford Kuga (+113%) push forward. Notice also the Opel Mokka (+46%), Dacia Sandero (+58%) and BMW 1 Series (+120%) shining inside the Top 10. further down, the BMW 5 Series (+125%), Citroen C3 (+104%), Mercedes E-Class (+168%) and Fiat Tipo (+349%) are the most dynamic in the Top 50. The Skoda Kodiaq (#31) leads recent launches (<12 months) ahead of the Suzuki Ignis (#45), Opel Crossland (#54) new to market and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio (#57).
