Portugal June 2017: Renault Clio at 8% share, Nissan Micra up to #6

New car sales in Portugal are up 6.3% year-on-year in June to 24.834 registrations, lifting the half-year total up 7.2% to 127.186 units. Renault more than doubles the market growth at +15% to reach 15.8% share vs. 14.6% year-to-date while Peugeot trails the market at +2% to 8.4% share vs. 9.6% so far in 2017. Fiat surges 38% to land on the third step of the podium – it ranks 6th so far this year, and Citroen (+18%) is the only other carmaker sporting a double-digit year-on-year gain in the Top 10. Further down, Hyundai (+54%), Mazda (+66%), Land Rover (+36%), Lexus (+42%), Suzuki (+52%) and Porsche (+58%) all post spectacular gains. Model-wise, the Renault Clio (+5%) reigns supreme at 8% share vs. 3.3% for its immediate follower the VW Polo (+3%), while the Seat Ibiza is up 10 spots on May to #3. The Renault Megane is up 47%, the Nissan Micra up 8-fold on the previous model a year ago, the Fiat Punto up 4-fold, the Citroen C3 up 60% and the Ford Focus up 42%.
