Morocco First Half 2017: Dacia up 11% in market up 1.1%, Sandero up 77%
Dacia Sandero sales are up 77% year-on-year in Morocco so far in 2017.

The Moroccan new car market edges up 1.1% over the First Half 2017 to 84.479 registrations. Passenger cars are down 0.3% to 78.215 while Light commercials are up 22.2% to 6.264. Local producer Dacia tightens an already firm grip on the market, outpacing the overall growth 10-fold at +11% to hit 28.2% market share. Sister brand Renault does even better with a 21% surge to 12.% share vs. 10.1% a year ago. Ford remains in third place despite a 19% drop, Volkswagen (-1%) overtakes Hyundai (-6%) while Peugeot (+3%) bypasses Fiat (-34%). In the premium brands ranking, Mercedes (+11%) passes BMW (-2%) with Audi (+13%), Land Rover (-32%) and Jeep (-45%) following. Over in the models ranking, with only passenger cars data available, the Dacia Logan remains in the lead but drops 1% whereas both the Dacia Sandero (+77%) and Renault Clio (+53%) are catching up fast. Notice also the Peugeot 208 up 36%, the Hyundai Tucson up 256%, the VW Tiguan up 37%, the Renault Megane up 31% and the Opel Astra up 92%.
