The Polish new light vehicle market is up 11.4% year-on-year in April to 44.341 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up a splendid 16.8% to 184.973. After being outsold by Toyota for the first time last February, Skoda reclaims the brands lead with 11.1% share but trails the market at +7% whereas Toyota outpaces it again at +24% to 10.2% share as does Volkswagen up 20% to 9.3%. Further down, Fiat (+20%), Mercedes (+24%), Citroen (+15%) and BMW (+17%) are among carmakers with double-digit gains while Seat brilliantly leaps inside the Top 15 at #14.
The models ranking gets another reshuffle after the VW Golf led in March, with the Opel Astra snapping the pole position this month thanks to deliveries up 31%. It distances the two traditional Skodas, the Fabia (+11%) and Octavia (-1%) with the Toyota Auris (+14%) and VW Golf (+17%) rounding up the Top 5. Inside the Top 10, the Renault Clio (+15%), Dacia Duster (+16%) and Ford Focus (+35%) impress while the Fiat Tipo climbs to a best-ever #11 thanks to sales up 142% on a year ago. The Tipo now ranks #16 year-to-date vs. #47 over the Full Year 2016. Notice also the Toyota C-HR down to #19, the Renault Captur up to #31 and the Skoda Kodiaq up to #38.
