The Taiwanese new car market is up 12% year-on-year in February to 24.215 units, enabling the year-to-date tally to edge into positive territory at +0.9% to 69.645 units. Toyota is falling behind in terms of market growth (+3%) but remains a distant leader at 25% market share vs. 26.4% so far in 2016. That’s still more than double the #2, Mitsubishi/CMC up 29% to 12.4%, distancing Nissan/Infiniti down 10% to 8.8%. Honda (+16%), Mercedes (+28%), Ford (+30%), BMW (+25%), Luxgen (+30%) and Volkswagen (+101%) all impress and all rank within the Top 10 brands. Model-wise, no surprise on top: the Toyota Corolla reigns in spite of dropping 10% on February 2016, followed by a very dynamic Toyota RAV4 (+108%) and CMC Veryca (+44%). Two recent launches complete the Tp 5: the Honda HR-V and Toyota Sienta.
