Finland March 2017: Nissan Qashqai up 41% to snap top spot

New car sales in Finland are down 3.6% year-on-year in March to 11.093 registrations, leaving a Q1 result up just 0.1% to 32.835 units. Toyota keeps the lead of the brands ranking, even improving 4% to 1.472 units and 13.3%. It is followed this month by Nissan – fuelling up on sales just as the Japanese Financial Year ends – up 6 spots on February but down 2% year-on-year to 1.060 sales. Skoda is stable in third place, ahead of Volkswagen struggling at -17% and Volvo up a splendid 19%. Other great gainers this month include Hyundai (+43%), Peugeot (+17%), Seat (+34%), Dacia (+86%) and Lexus (+178%).
Model-wise, the Nissan Qashqai surges 41% year-on-year to take the overall lead, knocking the year-to-date leader, the Skoda Octavia (-3%), down to #2. The Toyota Auris (-5%), Yaris (-24%) and Avensis (-24%) all struggle while the Volvo V90 gains another two spots on February to rank at a stunning 7th place. Inside the Top 10, notice also the Kia Rio up 23% to #9 and the Volvo XC60 up 87% to #10. Beyond, the VW Polo (+44%), Skoda Fabia (+36%), Opel Mokka (+85%), VW Tiguan (+440% thanks to the new generation), Mercedes E-Class (+110%) and Toyota RAV4 (+129%) all shine. Among other recent launches, the Toyota C-HR climbs up six spots on February to #14 and the Volvo S90 remains at #25.
