Thailand November 2016: Hilux races D-Max for annual pole position
The Toyota Hilux is #1 in Thailand for the 7th month in a row but remains #2 YTD.

New car sales in Thailand are down by double digits for the second month running in November at -15% to 64.771 units, pulling the year-to-date tally down 2% to 681.930. Toyota (-4%) resists better than the market and post a stunning 36.3% market share, well above the 31.7% it commands year-to-date. Isuzu manages to improve at +4% to 18.5% share, distancing Honda (-28%), Mitsubishi (-50%), Ford (-15%) and Nissan (-28%). Suzuki (+1 unit!), Hino (+20%), MG (+26%), Dongfeng (+38%), Tata (+6%) and Volvo (+2%) are the only gainers in the Top 20. Notice also Peugeot up 113% at #23. Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux is racing to try and snatch the annual pole position back from the Isuzu D-Max. It sells 11.518 units in November (+13%) vs. 9.925 (+8%) for the D-Max, bridging the YTD gap to just 1.143 units: 107.102 for the D-Max vs. 105.959 for the Hilux. This race will be decided in the last days of December. The Toyota Yaris surges 22% in third place and the Toyota Corolla is up 17% thanks to its facelift and is back above the Honda Civic (+192%).
