Uruguay August 2016: Fiat back to #1, Renault and Ford shine

Fiat is the most popular manufacturer in Uruguay in August.

In August, the Uruguayan new car market posts a year-on-year gain for the first time this year at +6% to 3.691 registrations. The year-to-date tally now stands at 27.403, down 16% on the same period in 2015. Outsold by Volkswagen in July, Fiat reclaims the lead of the brands ranking it holds year-to-date with 421 sales and 11.4% share vs. 418 and 11.3% for VW. Renault shoots up 81% to #3 and Ford is up 119% to #5 but Suzuki, leader a year ago, tumbles down 36% to #4. Toyota (+88%), Kia (+64%), Geely (+34%), FAW (+50%), Mitsubishi (+167%) and Honda (+213%) all post spectacular year-on-year gains.
