Turkey August 2016: Renault Symbol and VW Passat on top

The Renault Symbol is the most popular vehicle in Turkey in August.

August sales are still reeling from the political unrest of July, down 13% to 71.556 units. The year-to-date tally is now down 5% to 568.906. Volkswagen remains the best-selling manufacturer in the country despite deliveries falling sharply at -18% to 11.167, Fiat is up 2 spots on July to 2nd place with 7.720 sales and 10.8% share, overtaking Ford (-27%) and Renault (-23%). Toyota (+18%), Skoda (+38%), Seat (+23%), Land Rover (+172%) and Suzuki (+2746%) post significant year-on-year gains. Model-wise, the Renault Symbol surges 74% to 2.892 sales and 4% share just as the larger and more expensive Fluence is being replace by the Megane Sedan. It distances the VW Passat up 6%, the Opel Astra up 30% and the Fiat Egea at 2.488 sales, still not managing to replicate the success of its predecessor the Linea.
