War-torn Syria sees its new car market crumble down 56% year-on-year over the first 7 months of 2016 to 4.154 units, a slight improvement on the -63% endured over the first 4 months of the year. Only two carmakers continue to sell volumes in Syria: Hyundai holding 61% of the market and Kia at 36.8%. Nissan, Subaru and Mazda all sell less than 100 units each. Model-wise, the Hyundai Elantra snaps the pole position it held in 2015 back from the Kia Frontier, #1 over the first 4 months of the year. The Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento all rank within the Top 10, denoting customers avid of SUV experiences.
