Belgian new light vehicle sales are up 12% year-on-year in June to 62.532 units including light commercials, leading to a market up 7% to 347.754 halfway through 2016. Renault cements its leadership with deliveries up 32% to 8.525 for a 13.6% market share, almost three percentage points above rival Volkswagen up 18% to 6.757 and 10.8%. Peugeot (+15%), Opel (+17%) and BMW (+18%) follow, all beating the market. Dacia (+24%), Volvo (+41%), Skoda (+18%), Mazda (+26%), Suzuki (+31%) and most impressively Mini (+81%) impress, while among smaller brands Smart (+44%), Ssangyong (+46%), Honda (+62%), Subaru (+73%), Lexus (+126%) and Jaguar (+199%) stand out.
The VW Tiguan soars to #2 overall in Belgium in June.
In the models ranking, the Renault Scénic posts a 2nd consecutive month in pole position with a splendid 1.994 sales and 3.2% share, one percentage point of market share above all other nameplates on sale in the country. This score, solely linked to the clearing out of previous generation stock by Renault before the new model (pictured above) lands in dealerships in September, enables the Scénic to reclaim the year-to-date lead as it did over the Full Year 2015 at 7.570 sales vs. 7.395 for the VW Golf. Boosted by the new model, the VW Tiguan is up 4-fold on July 2015 to surge to 2nd place overall with 1.399 units, while the Renault Captur soars 11 spots on May to an outstanding 4th place and the Renault Clio is down two to #5. Notice also the Hyundai Tucson reliably solid at #6, the Opel Astra up 43% to #7, the Audi A3 up 33% to #8 and the Audi A4 up 29% to #11.
