Vietnamese new vehicle sales continue on their explosive growth: up another 30% year-on-year in June to 24.421 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total halfway through 2016 to a record-breaking 135.863 units, up 31% on the same period in 2015. Once again Thaco-Kia owes its domination in the manufacturers ranking to the tremendous success of its medium-heavy commercial vehicle lineup (4.429 sales) while its passenger cars lineup (2.112) would only push it to #4 overall, below Toyota (3.979), Ford (2.369) and Mazda (2.279), the latter two up a stunning 47% and 69% year-on-year respectively. The Ford Ranger more than doubles its sales compared to June 2015 to 1.429 units and 5.9% share, posting a third consecutive month at #1 and taking the lead year-to-date at 6.868 deliveries (+102%) vs. 6.467 (+4%) for the Toyota Vios. Boosted by the new model , the Toyota Fortuner is up 41% to #2 and 1.212 sales. Notice also the Mazda3 up 50% to #4, the Mazda CX-5 up 125% to #4, Kia K3 up 68% to #8, Honda City up 60% to #12 and the Toyota Hilux up 120% to #15 but only managing less than 1/4 the sales of its archenemy the Ford Ranger.
