Kazakhstan First Half 2016: Toyota and Renault catch up on Lada
Renault manages a 10.8% share with just 3 cars: the Duster, Sandero and Logan.

Thanks to autoconsulting.kz, we can share with you today sales data for Kazakhstan over the First Half of 2016. The Kazakh market continues its freefall in 2016 with volumes retracting by more than half at -59% year-on-year to just 21.870 units. Russian carmaker Lada remains the most popular brand in the country despite sales down 74% to 4.309 and 19.7% share vs. 31.4% a year ago. Toyota is catching up though, seeing its market share jump from 8% over H1 2015 to 17% now thanks to sales down just 13% to 3.719. Renault (-39%) also improves its market share significantly from 6.9% to 10.8%.
The Toyota Camry shoots up to #2 overall in Kazakhstan over H1 2016.
On the opposite, Hyundai and Kia, both down 76% lose 5 and 6 percentage points of market share respectively. Other great gainers include Nissan, Lexus, JAC, Mazda and MG. Newcomers Datsun (#22) and Lifan (#32) have not chosen the best of times to enter the Kazakh market. Despite being at the end of its life, the Lada Priora takes the lead of Kazakh models ranking with sales down 47% to 9% share, distancing the Toyota Camry down 3% and up 10 spots on a year ago to #2 and the Renault Duster down 36% but up 5 ranks to #3. The Lada 4×4 (-30%), VW Polo (-38%), Renault Sandero (-10%) and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (-10%) also gain market share in the Top 10.
