The Jordanian new car market is down 18% year-on-year over the first four months of 2016 to 15.423 registrations, and this solely due to the two once-dominant Korean manufacturers Hyundai – halving its sales year-on-year to 3.679 – and Kia – down 36% to 2.519 units. Meanwhile Toyota gains a fantastic 44% to snap the top spot with 4.728 sales and 30.7% share. Other great performers over the period include Isuzu (#6), Lexus (#7), Suzuki (#8), Ford (#10) and Jeep (#15).
Hyundai is down 50% this year in Jordan despite a great start from the Creta.
The models ranking is undergoing a Land Cruiser invasion: the 200 Station Wagon is up 152% to take the overall lead with 12.3% share while the 70 Pick-up is up 314% to 2nd place and 9.8% share, relegating the Hyundai Elantra (-49%) to #3 and the Accent (-74%) to #7 whereas it led the ranking over the Full Year 2015. The Kia Frontier is up 4% to #4, the Nissan Patrol up 58% to #8, the Isuzu D-Max shoots up to #14 and the Hyundai Creta lands at a stunning 15th place with 290 sales.
