Norway April 2016: PHEV boosts Passat and Outlander up

The Norwegian new car market gains a solid 10% to 14.116 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total up 6% to 51.204. Volkswagen dominates the brands ranking with 21.4% share, more than double any other manufacturer, with Toyota (10.1%) and BMW (7.5%, up 44%) rounding up the podium. Nissan (+44%), Mitsubishi (+51%), Opel (+36%), Renault (+51%) and Honda (+27%) lodge spectacular improvement inside the Top 20 whereas Citroen (-52%) and Tesla (-58%) struggle.

Model-wise, the VW Golf is once again master in command thanks to 1.713 sales and 12.1% share (64% coming from the hybrid and electric variants), ahead of the VW Passat up a whopping 93% to 684 (53% from the PHEV) and the Mitsubishi Outlander up 103% to 569 (89% PHEV). The all-electric Nissan Leaf up 224% to 541 units and the Toyota Auris at 428 (97% hybrid) complete a Top 5 decidedly focused on eco-friendly cars. The Volvo V70 cracks the Top 10 at #10, the BMW 2 Series is up 24 spots on March to #14, the Volvo XC90 is back up 11 to #19 and the Opel Astra up 25 to #22.
