Palestine Full Year 2015: First ever data available

Today we welcome a new market on BSCB, a rare event lifting the total count to 193 markets covered by this site. No other website in the world covers new car sales data for as many markets, so you have chosen well by reading these lines. The State of Palestine was voted a non-member observer state by the United Nations on 29 November 2012 and thus qualifies as a nation under BSCB’s guidelines. Please note categorising Palestine as a nation or otherwise does not reflect BSCB’s political views and cannot be considered as a political message in any way. We have been lucky enough to receive photographic illustrations from the Palestinian territories taken in September 2015 by a BSCB reader, they are used to illustrate this article.

The sales data that has been made available to BSCB is exclusive to this site and concerns all FCA Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles brands and models. As such it does not reflect the overall Palestinian new car market. Jeep replaces Fiat as FCA’s most successful brand in Palestine this year thanks to sales more than doubling at +109% to 188 units whereas Fiat tumbles down 83% to just 33 deliveries. The Jeep Grand Cherokee (+357%), Compass (-15%) and Wrangler (+25%) replace the Fiat Doblo (-85%) and Qubo (-73%) as the best-selling FCA models in Palestine in 2015. FCA sold a total of 249 cars in Palestine in 2015, a 17% drop on its 2014 result.

Based on local observations, the overall Palestinian new car market is heavily influenced by that of neighbour Jordan and as such should be dominated by Korean carmakers Kia and Hyundai. The Kia Cerato could lead the Palestinian sales charts in 2015, followed by the Kia Rio and Hyundai Accent. Note these are estimates only and may not be 100% accurate.
