The Bulgarian new car market is stable year-on-year in January at an estimated 1.896 registrations. Firstly the usual caveat to Bulgarian data which are significantly skewed by re-exports to other European Union countries. A large portion of new deliveries never makes it to local roads – as much as 30% – thanks to Bulgaria displaying some of the lowest car prices in the EU. See here for more on this phenomenon. Dacia surges 137% year-on-year to cement its leadership of the market at 336 sales and 17.7% share above Skoda (-14%), Volkswagen (-15%) and Toyota (-10%) while Peugeot gains 26% and Renault sinks at -58%. Notice also Land Rover up 150%, Honda up 62% and Suzuki up 90%. Model-wise, the Dacia Dokker is faithful to its throne, ahead of the Skoda Octavia, Dacia Duster and Renault Captur with the Peugeot 308 (+20), Ford Transit (+12) and Nissan X-Trail (+23) posting much higher rankings than their FY2015 levels.
