The Malaysian new car market is up 1.5% year-on-year in November to 56.092 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total to 597.273 units, down 0.8% on the same period last year. For once market leader Perodua takes a dent at -9% to 30.2% share vs. 32.1% year-to-date, while Toyota (+14%) and Honda (+47%) continue to shine, keeping Proton (-13%) at bay. Mercedes is up 25%, Subaru up 61%, Lexus up 115% and Renault up 158%. In the models ranking, below the Perodua Axia sovereign at 15% share, the Perodua Myvi is back to #2, knocking the Proton Saga down to #3 while the Honda HR-V lodges another outstanding month at #7 and 3.134 sales. Boosted by discounts on the outgoing generation, the Toyota Fortuner climbs 16 spots to #17.
