Netherlands August 2015: Renault Clio soars to year-to-date top spot

Dutch new car sales are up a spectacular 22% year-on-year in August to 31.255 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total to 266.376 units, up 5% on 2014. Renault more than doubles its sales vs. August 2014 (+102%) to 4.461 units and 14.3% share vs. 9.1% year-to-date, this surge solely due to the perforance of the Renault Clio representing 76% of the French carmaker’s sales in the Netherlands this month. The Clio soars to 10.8% market share thanks to 3.370 sales and overtakes the VW Golf to snap the year-to-date pole position at 12.183 units and 3.7% share.
The Opel Karl is now inside the Dutch Top 20.
Volkswagen is kicked down to #2 with 11.3% share above Peugeot at 8.7%, Ford at 5.9% (+37%), Opel at 5.3% (+47%), while Citroen (+48%), Kia (+33%), Audi (+27%), Hyundai (+116%) and Mazda (+129%) all outperforming the market. Further down, Jaguar (+295%), Jeep (+288%) and Smart (+567%) all take off. Below the Clio, the Peugeot 308 manages to outsell the VW Golf with 1.308 sales vs. 1.254, the VW Polo and Volvo V40 complete the Top 5 and the Opel Karl jumps 16 spots on July to land inside the Dutch Top 20.
